2018-19 Game Recaps
Game 1: The Panthers opened up the season with a non-league game against Nashoba and lost 3-2. Turnovers and sloppy play allowed Nashoba to get out to an early lead of 2-0. The Panthers had some chances but couldn't get one past the Nashoba goalie until late in the 3rd period when Junior defenseman Tommy Labb scored from the point to make it 2-1. Nashoba answered back quickly making it
3-1. Sophomore Kevin Balewicz scored with under a minute left but it was too little too late for the Panthers.
Game 2: The Panthers played D2 Medfield Saturday and came away with a 3-3 tie. The Panthers played much better in this game and carried the play early but Medfield managed to get up early 2-0. The Panthers battled back with 2 goals from Sophomore Christian Schneeloch to tie it 2-2. One on a penalty shot that he stuffed 5-hole to electrify the crowd. Medfield scored again but Sophomore Kevin Balewicz scored his second of the season to secure the 3-3 tie. Next up is Westwood on Wednesday, 12-19 at 6PM at Loring Arena.
Game 3: The young Panther team struggled to keep up with a fast physical Westwood squad and lost 4-0. Despite a lot of early Westwood penalties, the Panthers generated little offense and were hemmed in their own zone for much of the game. Panther penalties hurt the team late in the game when Westwood had 2 5 on 3 power plays and netted their 4th goal late in the 3rd period on the power play. Sophomore goaltender Nico Quatromoni kept the game at 4-0 making multiple highlight reel saves throughout the game. The Panthers never quit and did their best to try and match the physical play of Westwood. Game 4 is Saturday, December 22nd at 7:20 PM in Natick vs. Dover Sherborn who has combined with Weston this season.
Game 4: The Panthers got down early 2-0, once again, but managed to battle back for a 2-2 tie against DS.
Game 5: The Panthers played Hopedale, Millis, Milford at Warrior arena in the St. Joe's Holiday tournament. Panthers again gave up 2 early goals and ended up losing 2-1. They play 12/27 at 4PM against St. Joe's in the consolation game.
Game 6: The Panthers, who are still searching for their first win of the season, gave up 4 goals in the first period to St. Josephs Prep. They scored a goal in the third period but never recovered from the early deficit falling 5-1 in the consolation game of the St. Josephs Holiday tournament. Game 7 is Wednesday, 1/2/19 at 4:45 against Hopkinton at Loring Arena.
Game 7: The Panthers came out with some much needed intensity against Hopkinton and managed to keep the score at 0-0 after the first period. Sophomore Goalie Nico Quatromoni played an excellent game and made some great saves to keep the Hillers off the board early. Hopkinton managed to score 3 goals in the second and third, one on the power play, and the Panthers only managed to score 1. Junior Robby Saponaro tipped a shot from the point from Junior defenseman Connor Heffernan for the Panthers only goal. Late in the third and up 3-1 Hopkinton got an empty net goal to seal the victory at 4-1 taking the Panthers to 0-5-2 on the season. Next up is Norwood at home on Saturday, 1/5 at 6:10 PM. Norwood is also searching for their first win at 0-3-1.
