PANTHERS HAVE OUTSTANDING YEAR!!!
This has been a season that a lot of people will never forget. From day one of the season this team had one common goal, to make it back to the state tournament. With a tough four games left the team needed five big points. This was the case of many of the teams in D3 South.
Starting with a very tough D2 Milford team (10-8-2), the Panthers went in with a game plan to drive to the net and get the garbage goals. Getting goals from different players, Sancomb with the Hat trick, Trudeau with a couple, Murphy, Losanno, and first goals for Athy and Morganelli.. Goalies Arvanitis and Driscoll along with Tough Team D kept the high scoring Milford team to 2 goals.
Then on to Canton to face a very good Westwood team who were playing on their senior night in their home with a full house. Panther team got 1 goal from Drew Ballenger on the PP from Weiner and Losanno. It was all the Panthers would need. Brad Arvanitis stood on his head while the team pitched with great team D along with some big shot blocks from Capt Nesbitt and Bedard the Panthers spoil the WW evening by being only the second team of the year to shut them out 1-0. Great Battle by both teams.
Heading to Groton rink with a load of Fans along, the team calls on Capt Losanno to lead the boys. While the game went back and forth, the Littleton Tigers did not let up, it was easy to see they were trying to be the spoiler after Holliston had beat them earlier in the season 8-1. Jamie made some great saves including some PP shots from the Tigers, and a couple of odd man rushes including a break away. Once the Panther offence starting rolling a little and the nerves wore off, it was only a matter of time. With 2 goals from Turcotte, 1 from Ballenger, and a bonus empty net goal for Palmatier. The Panthers Clinch with a 4-1 victory..
In the 20th game of the season, Dan Driscoll got the start. Stopping shots from a high powered Medway offence, Driscoll kept them to only 2 bad bounce goals. The Panthers could only answer with 1 of their own and fell 2-1 to Medway.
Going into the playoffs as the 19th seed, the team had a long hard road to battle. Starting off in Bourne, against Bourne.. That is a challenge in itself.
The team was quicker, stronger, and more discipline in game 1. They got some great goal tending by rookie Arvanitis who stopped all of the Bourne shots and earning the 3-0 shutout.
Game 2,, Abington.. With another huge fan turnout the Panthers did not give up. Going into the 3rd period down 3-1 with their only goal coming from Capt Turk, the fans sparked the energy. Weiner probably played the best period of his life and got the boys rolling,, then Perry, then Sancomb finished it off for the Win. A great comeback against a tough #3 Abington team.
Game 3: Again a back and forth game. After a quick start with a Goal from Turk, then a second by Athy. The team was rolling. Then after review, Athy goal was overturned and it took a lot of steam out of the Panther Train. Blue Hills responded with 3 goals in the 1st period with the Edwards Brothers (2 of the top 3 scorers in the state).
Panthers would not give in. Coming out on fire again in the second outscoring the BH team 3-0 and taking a 4-3 lead. The 3rd went back and forth but Holliston stayed on top and won the game 8-5. Turcotte led the scoring with 4 goals and 2 assists.
Game 4: Medway Mustangs... The Panthers went into the game knowing they were big underdogs. After preparing all week for the powerful Mustangs, the Panthers put up a great fight. Letting up 2 goals, only getting 1 penalty, hitting a crossbar, missing a couple of little bounces the Panthers fought to the very end.
On behalf of the coaching staff, I would like to thank all the players, the parents, the administration, the Alumni players/families for all their support. A special thanks to the seventh player for the team,, The FANS!!!! Thanks for filling the fan buses and making your way to the rinks to support our team.. It is greatly appreciated.
The Senior players Ben Wiener, Ryan Morganelli, Jared MacDonald,
Max Athy, Jamie Losanno, Mike Nesbitt, and Max Turcotte have set a new bar for the Holliston Hockey Program. Their hard work and dedication to the team has earned them a place in the Program History. They will always have a place in the Panther Hockey Family...

Tough shoes to fill part 3
The Holliston Panther Hockey Club will once again be looking to fill some big shoes. Senior Captains Tim Aruajo and Vince Coffey
who led the 2012 Panther team along with Jay Marcoaldi, Nick Morganelli, Ryan Nelson, and Mike Regan. All 4 year players to the program, who will be missed. Their hard work on and off the ice, their unique personalities, their leadership and their love for the game.
While the team is sad to lose these great players, they are also proud and grateful for everything that each one of these guys have done for the program. The seeds they help plant will help the team grow, and their sacrifices will make them always a part of the team.
Good Luck to the 6, and always know, that you have a place in the Heart of Holliston Hockey..
